Our First Aid for Schools course has been designed to meet the needs of the school environment and is ideal for teachers, teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors and administration support staff.

Children interact closely at school, inevitably accidents happen. In addition to this when children become ill, they usually do quite quickly. Our course will give the candidates extra knowledge and skills to effectively manage a range of incidents and accidents.

It is also worth remembering that schools are responsible for managing any incident, illness or accident others, whilst on school site, such as: -

  • Parents
  • Siblings
  • Contractors
  • Visitors

Course content:

  • Scene safety/management and summoning help
  • Casualty assessment

Including recognition and management of: -

  • Unconscious casualty
  • Burns and scalds
  • Choking
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Fractures and Shock
  • Resuscitation - (Adult, Child & Infant)
  • Miscellaneous conditions
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Anaphylactic Shock

The course duration is between 4-6 hours, depending on individual requirements to accomodate two sessions in one day. This is a mixture of theory and practical application, with competency based on continual visual assessment by the Instructor.

On completion, every candidate will issued a Certificate of Attendance, valid for 3 years and receive a personal resuscitation shield (for use in the event of an emergency after the course)
